I moved to Paris in January to do an exchange program organised by my University in Norway. I quickly realised that moving away from my familiar eating-habits and workout routines would make maintaining and improving a healthy lifestyle more challenging. I searched for gyms close to my new neighbourhood, but I was quite disappointed when I compared the high prices of the memberships with how poorly equipped most of the gyms were, and how far they were from where I was living.
I therefore decided to look for a personal trainer instead, and after reading about other client’s experiences with YPT, and knowing that I would not have to struggle with understanding the French language during my training, the choice fell on Marcus.
My first encounter with Marcus gave me a reality check when it came to my own health. We did a full body analysis measuring, among other things, my weight, body fat percentage and metabolic age. The test was done in a flash, but the results were quite honestly a bit frightening, but Marcus turned quickly turned it into a big motivation, and that is one of the things Marcus does best as a personal trainer. As I experienced, there were periods when I was tired of exercising and maintaining a healthy diet in order to get the results I wanted, but Marcus made these times a lot easier by turning negative thoughts into positive ones, and being supportive (but also strict) when needed.
My workout routine with Marcus was focused on reaching my goal; a stronger, fitter and healthier body that will be able to cope with long office hours in the future. I have learned workout routines that strengthen the whole body, as well as exercises that focus on certain areas in order to proportionate the strong and weak parts of your body. On my own request we also did quite a bit of running. We worked on running techniques as well as changing between high intensity intervals and slower, longer runs around Paris
The other important lesson Marcus taught me, was being able to understand that the process of reaching your goals is not done by an easy “quick fixâ€, at least not if your goals involves improvements or changes that you want to maintain as well after the sessions with YPT is finished.
We also did the body analysis regularly during my time with YPT. This is a great motivation, as it gives you a vision of how only small changes in your diet and/or exercising routine will affect the health of your body. I was really pleased with my results, as I managed to drop 15 years of my metabolic age over a period of two months. My goal was also to become stronger and fitter, which I definitely achieved; my body fat percentage went down by 6,7 %, I gained muscle mass and lost an incredible 7.7kgs. A lot of people told me how hard it would be to maintain these results when I was finished with my results, but I’m not the least worried.
These two moths have taught me so much about what I need to do and change in order to get where I want, and all I can say after being back in Oslo for a month now, is so far, so good! I really enjoyed my time with Marcus, and I would not hesitate a second to recommend YPT to everyone that has a specific goal, or just want to take control of their own health and lifestyle. I’ve even signed up for Oslo Half-Marathon in September. Given that before I met Marcus, I was not able to run more than 5 minutes before almost fainting, that can be nothing but a huge improvement!
Best,
