It’s a cold, bright, crisp Sunday morning in September.
I’m waiting outside the Ecole Militaire in Paris at the finish line for the annual road race exclusively for women – La Parisienne. I’m scanning all the runners crossing the line. There’re cheers from spectators as they see loved ones cross the line. Some of these ladies run this race every year and there are also a large percentage out there doing it for the first time, mothers, daughters, sisters, grandmothers and aunties, each one has their own individual story. It’s not long before I see her, she’s still running that’s a good sign! I look at the clock and see she’s going to finish in under 50 minutes!!!!! I shout her name and wave to her and she looks over and waves back with an enormous smile…..Â Success!!!
Clair wasn’t your average client, when she first contacted me, she weighed in at over 130kgs. Claire came to me with a determination to loose weight and loose weight she did, well over 20kgs in the 7 months we trained together. We looked at a plan and set a goal of running La Parisienne in 5 months down the line. We started slowly…. Very slowly but with determination, consistency and a never say die attitude we worked hard and watched the weight fall away. Don’t get me wrong it wasn’t all plain sailing, there were a few rough patches along the way but we made great progress until she re-located o London.
Many people say to me when I first meet them “oh I’m not a runner”. Claire changed her mind.
